The week a 1998 Civic taught me more than a year of trade school

This old lady brought in her Civic with a rough idle, and after three hours of chasing vacuum leaks I found a cracked PCV hose buried under the intake. The look on her face when it started smooth as new was better than any paycheck. What's the most satisfying 'simple' fix you've ever found?

Ever have one of those fixes that makes you question why you even bothered with the fancy tools first?

Yeah totally, I mean I spent a whole weekend trying to sync some smart lights with a fancy app. Kim_davis gets it. Ended up fixing it by just pulling the plug on the whole system for a minute and turning it back on. Felt pretty dumb after all that.

Three hours on a vacuum leak hunt sounds brutal, but that payoff is unreal. Kim_davis is right about overthinking the fancy tools sometimes. Finding that one cracked hose must have felt like winning the lottery.

Yeah, pulling the plug on those smart lights is the perfect example. I read a forum post once where a guy spent two days trying to code a custom routine for his thermostat, only to find the batteries in the sensor were dead. It's crazy how our brains jump to the hardest possible answer first. That moment when you step back and try the dumb simple thing is pure gold. What's the dumbest thing you've overthought lately?
