Tried that cheap brake bleeder kit from the parts store, now my master cylinder is toast
I mean, the $45 vacuum pump looked fine on paper but the seal blew on the third bleeder screw and dumped fluid everywhere, so has anyone else had better luck with the pressure style, or am I just stuck replacing the cylinder on my 2003 F-150?

I used to swear by the cheap vacuum kits too, figured why drop $150 on something I use maybe twice a year. But after watching that same style blow a seal and spray fluid all over my garage, I switched to the pressure bleeder and honestly it's night and day. The pressure style keeps everything sealed so you're not fighting air leaks at the pickup tube, and it actually pushes fluid through instead of pulling it through. That vacuum method creates micro-bubbles in the line half the time anyway, which is probably what killed your master cylinder in the first place. So yeah, you're not stuck, but I'd say bite the bullet on the better tool before you swap the cylinder, otherwise you might be doing this all over again next season.
