Update: swapped my wideband for reading plugs, and now I can't tell which one lies to me
Ran a wideband gauge in my turbo car for 3 years and leaned on that number like it was gospel. Then a guy at a track day near Reno pulled my plugs after a pull and pointed at the strap, said my 11.8 reading was hiding a lean spot up top. I started reading plugs the old way, cut the threads off, look at the base ring, and it told a different story than the gauge. Now I do both, but I still don't know which one to trust when they disagree. One says safe, the other says pull timing. Costs me about $40 in plugs a month to keep checking. What do you guys tune off, the gauge or the plug?
