Found out the 747-400 has over 100 miles of wiring in it, and I thought rewiring my buddy's Cessna was bad.

I was reading some old Boeing maintenance bulletins last night and that number blew my mind, how many miles of wire do you guys figure the biggest plane you've worked on has?

Ngl that 100 mile number is insane. I helped rip out all the avionics on an old DC-10 once and it felt like we were drowning in wires, probably a solid 60 miles in that beast. The 747 is a whole different level though, like imagine trying to trace a single short in that mess. Honestly makes me glad I stick to GA stuff where you can actually see both ends of a wire.

60 miles in a DC-10" is probably a bit high actually. I looked it up once, the DC-10 has like 40 miles of wiring give or take. Still insane though, I agree with you on that.

@colegarcia nailed it, a 747 is a nightmare waiting to happen.
