My worst Monday in 15 years of avionics, spent 9 hours chasing a wire that was right in front of me

Last Monday I had a Cessna 172 come in with a intermittent NAV light issue. Pilot said the right wing light would flicker when he banked hard. I checked all the usual spots, the wing root connector, the tail splice, even the dimmer module. After 9 hours and a full afternoon of continuity checks, I finally took a break and sat in the cockpit. I looked down and saw the wire harness was pinched right under the seat rail, only visible if you lean way forward. The previous shop had routed it wrong and the seat movement was rubbing it bare. My own lead tech walked by and said 'you checked the seat rail, right?' No, I hadn't. Cost me the whole day and a rework on a different job I was supposed to finish. Anyone else ever had a fault that simple eat up an entire shift because you assumed it was deeper in the system?
