Old timer at the hangar in Bakersfield told me to stop chasing wires with the meter and just wiggle the harness
Last Thursday I spent about 90 minutes ringing out a fuel quantity issue on a Cessna 172 and getting nowhere with the meter. A guy named Ray who's been doing avionics since the 80s walked over, grabbed the harness by the left wing root, and gave it a little shake while watching the gauge. The needle jumped, and he just said 'the electrons are already telling you, you just ain't listening with your hands.' Turned out to be a chafed wire hiding behind a clamp where the meter read fine until you moved it. Now I do the wiggle test first before I even pull the meter out, has anyone else had an intermittent that only showed up when you touched the bundle?
