Spent 4 hours chasing a fuel gauge glitch that turned out to be a loose ground stud behind the panel
I pulled the cluster twice and swapped the sending unit before I found it, and the whole fix took maybe 30 seconds once I actually saw it. Has anyone else gotten burned by a ground issue that looked exactly like a bad sensor?

Man, ground issues are sneaky because the meter lies to you the whole time. You get voltage at the sender, the gauge sweeps on a test, so your brain says sensor, not the return path. What got me is that a bad ground can still show a decent reading since the meter only needs a trickle to work, but the gauge needs a clean path to move.
