About 3 years ago at a regional outfit near Sheppard AFB, we did every pitot-static leak test with a hand pump and a stopwatch, and if the needle crept past a set mark you just wrote it down in a paper log. Last week I watched a new guy run the same test with a laptop and an adapter box, and the whole thing printed out a graph before I finished my coffee. I still keep my old manometer in the bottom of my roller because pulling it out feels right, even though it is basically a paperweight now. I guess I miss knowing the airplane through my hands instead of a screen, but I am not gonna pretend the new boxes dont save us a whole lot of ramp time. What did your shop switch to that you swore you would hate and then quietly got used to?
