Just realized I've been packing my bag wrong for every single trip
On my last hike in the Smokies, I was struggling up a hill and my buddy asked why my pack was so low. I always loaded the heavy stuff at the bottom, thinking it was more stable. He showed me his setup with the weight high and close to his back. I tried shifting my tent and food up top for the next mile, and it felt like a new world. Has anyone else made this same mistake with their gear placement?

Tbh I thought the same thing about keeping weight low. But shifting it higher completely changed how my shoulders felt, way less strain. Guess the old logic isn't always right.

Honestly, it's wild how long you can go doing something the hard way. I did the exact same thing with my sleeping bag for years, always rolling it tight instead of just stuffing it loose into the sack. I thought I was saving space, but it never packed down right and took forever. Saw some random video about it and felt like a total fool. Why do we never think to question the basic stuff we learn?
