That 9 mile stretch on the Ozark Highland Trail last April nearly got me, and it was one water source that fooled me
Filled up at a spring marked reliable on a 2021 map. It was a wet patch of mud by mile 4. I had 2 liters left for 9 miles of ridge in 80 degree heat and got dizzy by the last climb. A ranger later said that spring has been dry for 3 years. Anyone have a rule for confirming water on maps older than 2 years?
