Figured out why my string lights kept tangling after 3 summers

Last week I was untangling 200 feet of lights for the 4th time and noticed the knots always happen where the cord wraps around the stake. It hit me that I've been wrapping them around the stake in a figure 8 pattern instead of just coiling them loose in a bucket. Now I'm using a cheap 5 gallon paint bucket with a hole drilled in the bottom to feed the cord through, has anyone else found a better storage method for outdoor lights?

The bucket trick is solid, but honestly, the real fix is just accepting the tangled mess as part of the holiday tradition. Like, what else am I gonna do with all that free rage?
