Finally got the old brick fire pit to light after three damp springs

Used a chimney starter and some kiln-dried oak last night, and it finally caught without a half hour of blowing on it. Anyone have a go-to trick for keeping the kindling dry in a basic metal shed?

Those metal sheds sweat like crazy. Toss a big plastic storage bin in there for your kindling, the kind with the snap lid. Keeps the damp out way better than just a tarp.

My uncle's plastic bin warped and cracked after one winter in his shed. A heavy duty tarp with some bricks on the corners has lasted him years.

My shed's so damp, I found a frog using my kindling as a hot tub last week.
