Found a cheap trick to keep mosquitoes out of my backyard
Tried putting a box fan on low near my patio table and it cut down bites by like 90%. Has anyone tested this with a specific fan speed or setup?

Crank it to medium for still nights or your beer gets warm from the motor heat.

Low speed never did it for me. The mosquitoes just hover around the edges where the breeze dies off. Had to bump mine to high to really clear the air around the patio chairs. Motor heat on a still night is real though, my beer got lukewarm inside ten minutes with the fan blowing right on it. Ended up switching to a bigger fan placed further back so the breeze is still there but the motor isn't cooking my drink. Different setups for different bugs I guess.

Funny enough, I used to think fans were just for cooling people down, never really believed they'd do anything for bugs. But last summer I finally tried it after getting fed up with those little bloodsuckers ruining my evening beer on the deck... just a cheap oscillating fan on medium pointed at the table and I swear the difference was night and day. You don't need some fancy setup honestly, just enough airflow to mess with their flight path, even low speed works fine for me. It's not 100% perfect but it's way better than spraying harsh chemicals all over yourself and the yard. Definitely changed my mind on the whole thing.
