Found my old hammock setup from 3 years ago...

I came across a photo from July 2021 of my backyard in Ohio where I had this cheap rope hammock tied between two oak trees. Last month I bought a proper stand and a nicer fabric hammock from Target and it's night and day how much more I actually use it. Anyone else find their backyard setup changed a lot over a few years?

Wait, you actually had a backyard in Ohio with two oak trees?

Jumped right out of my seat reading that... I grew up in a tiny apartment with a single sad little maple that barely had any leaves, and here you are with two whole oak trees like it was nothing. The part about the acorn slip hazard made me laugh though, I can just picture you trying to walk through the yard and doing a cartoon style wipeout every three steps. Meanwhile I'm over here thinking a crooked platform in a slingshot tree sounds like a five star mansion compared to what I had. Guess the rats and squirrels really did win that backyard in the end, they're probably still having parties up there.

Man, those two oaks were basically the stars of my childhood. @sam_cooper you have no idea how many times I almost broke a bone climbing them after school. One was a white oak that dropped acorns like crazy every fall, you couldn't walk through the yard without slipping on them. The other was a red oak that had this weird double trunk split, like a giant slingshot. I built a treehouse in that one when I was twelve, though it was more of a crooked platform than a proper house, but it felt like a skyscraper to me back then. Honestly, I miss that yard more than I miss most people I grew up with. The rats and squirrels had a field day with those acorns too, they'd probably have a better claim to it than me now.
