Hot take: fake grass is ruining neighborhood drainage

I was walking my dog around the block last week and noticed three houses with new artificial turf, and after that big storm on Tuesday their yards were all pooling water while my real grass soaked it right up. The runoff from those fake lawns was pouring into the street and onto my driveway, and I'm pretty sure it's going to mess up the storm drains over time. Am I the only one who thinks these plastic lawns are a bad idea for the whole block?

Totally agree, my neighbor's fake lawn turned into a literal lake after one rainstorm and flooded my garden.

Has anyone else's neighbor actually checked if their fake lawn drains properly before installing it, @val974? Because that sounds like a major oversight that could mess up whole yards in the area. Did they end up fixing it or just let the water sit there?
