I finally chose between a gas fire pit and a wood-burning one for my patio.
Honestly, I went with a $400 propane model from Home Depot after three summers of dealing with smoke blowing into my neighbor's yard, and now I can actually use it on weeknights without the two-hour cleanup. Anyone else pick convenience over tradition for their outdoor space?

That $400 propane model's probably paid for itself in saved time and neighborly goodwill by now... I get the tradition argument but I'd rather be sitting around the fire than fighting with it.

Different strokes for different folks I guess. Around here the smoke keeps the bugs away and it's part of the whole vibe. Plus a little ash on your clothes never hurt nobody if the food is worth it.
