Just read that a single mature oak tree can drop over 10,000 acorns in a year.

Found that in a local nature guide and now I'm looking at the mess under my tree differently. Anyone have a good way to clean them up without breaking my back?

Honestly, calling it a mess makes me a little sad. All those acorns are a whole ecosystem. The squirrels and jays rely on them, and the ones that sprout are future trees. I just leave them be.

I mean, jays don't really rely on acorns, they mostly eat insects.

Just get a bunch of hungry squirrels on a payment plan. They'll handle the cleanup and you can save your back for something else.
