Just realized my new privacy fence is making my garden die
I put up a 6 foot cedar fence last spring to block out my neighbor's loud dogs, but now the tomato plants on that side are barely getting 3 hours of sun a day. The shade killed half my bell peppers and the basil is all leggy and sad. Anyone else deal with this and find a good way to still grow stuff in a suddenly shady spot?

Built a shade house for my tomatoes but accidentally created a snail paradise.

Actually that might be a good thing long term. Snails breaking down the leaf litter and dead plant matter creates free fertilizer for next season. You could put out some beer traps to keep them from eating living plants, but the snails will work that soil over better than any worm farm.

Wait, have you actually had success with beer traps keeping snails off living plants or do they just get drunk and die in the soil?
