Just realized those cheap solar lights are actually pretty good
I was dead set against those $10 solar path lights from Home Depot, figured they'd be junk after a month. Got a set of 12 from Hampton Bay three months ago for my garden in Portland, and they still work like day one. They even held up through two heavy rainstorms without flickering. Anyone else have a budget backyard buy that surprised them?

Hold up, full shade?! That's wild. I didn't even know those cheap lights would work with zero direct sun. I purposely stuck all mine in the sunniest spots thinking they'd die otherwise. Now I gotta go move a couple to test this out because my back porch could really use some light but it barely gets any sun. Might be a game changer for my setup too.

Twelve of those Hampton Bay lights you mentioned are literally still going strong in my backyard too. I put them along my fence line in Seattle and they survived our October windstorm without a single crack. The weird part is the two that I accidentally stuck in full shade still put out enough light to see the steps at night. I grabbed another pack last week for the front walkway because I figured why mess with a good thing.
