Rain barrel setup changed after one storm in July
I always thought my downspout diverter was fine until a heavy storm flooded my herb bed in Arlington. Swapped to a 55-gallon barrel with an overflow hose and it drained perfectly. Anyone else find their first setup just doesn't handle real rain?

Wait, your DOWNSPOUT DIVERTER actually flooded your herb bed?? I had the SAME thing happen with mine in June. I thought those things were supposed to handle everything. Mine sent water shooting out sideways like a fire hose, totally soaked my basil and drowned my tomatoes. I switched to a 55 gallon barrel too, but I had to rig up TWO overflow hoses after the first one still backed up. The barrel fills up FAST in a real downpour, trust me.
