Rant: My sister said a patio was 'too much work' for a rental

She was over last night and saw me moving some pots around... said 'why bother, you don't own the place'. I've been in this house in Tempe for almost 2 years now. It got me thinking, my little corner with the string lights and the old bench is where I drink my coffee every single morning. That's mine, even if the house isn't. Does anyone else put effort into a yard they're just renting?

Totally get it, I did the same thing at my last rental. Just stick with stuff in pots you can take with you.

One thing I wish I'd done sooner is check with the landlord about drilling a couple small holes for hanging baskets. Mine was fine with it as long as I filled them before moving out. It opens up so much more vertical space without taking up floor room. A little spackle and paint fixed it right up when I left.

Yeah, that's the move for sure. I even got some of those fabric grow bags, they're cheap and fold up flat when you move. Makes the whole thing way less stressful.

Made my last balcony feel like home with some cheap solar lights and a folding chair.
