Spent $800 on a fancy outdoor pizza oven and it's honestly not worth it.

Everyone says they're a game changer, but mine just takes forever to heat up and uses a ton of wood. What's a better way to get that wood-fired flavor without the hassle?

Wait you spent EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS on that thing? That is a crazy amount of money for a pizza oven. No wonder you're mad. My buddy got a simple little kettle-style grill insert for like a hundred bucks and it works great. Honestly a regular grill with some wood chips might get you close for way less hassle.

My cousin Frank dropped about six hundred on one of those fancy portable ovens last summer. He spent more time trying to keep the temperature steady than actually eating pizza, it was a whole drama. He saw your point, casey268, about the simple grill insert after his third failed Neapolitan attempt. Ended up selling the thing for a huge loss and just uses a pizza stone in his regular oven now. The whole experience kinda proved that spending more doesn't always mean less hassle.

It's just pizza. A hot oven and a good stone get you ninety percent of the way there for a fraction of the fuss. People get too caught up in the gear.
