Used to mow every week like clockwork, now I let my yard go 3 weeks between cuts
I was that guy who mowed every Saturday morning without fail, manicured stripes, bagged the clippings, the whole deal. Then last summer during a heatwave near Austin I just got lazy and let it grow for almost a month. Guess what? The clover and wildflowers came in, the bees showed up, and I barely had to water. Now I only mow when the HOA sends a note or the weeds start seeding. It's way less work and my yard actually looks healthier. Anyone else ditch the weekly mow habit and see their lawn do better?

Backed off on mowing during a dry spell here too and the clover basically turned my crispy dead patch into something that stays green without watering. It's wild how much better the soil holds moisture now compared to that brittle, scalped lawn look.

Yeah @dianawilson, that's exactly what I've been seeing too! The clover just seems to lock in whatever moisture we get, even when it's bone dry for weeks. I have patches where the grass turned to straw, but the clover stayed soft and green without me doing a thing. It's honestly kind of embarrassing how much better it looks than the parts I was trying so hard to maintain. Glad someone else noticed the same thing, because I was starting to think I was just making excuses to not mow.

Honestly, should I just fire my hose and claim clover did all the work?
