Warning: My cedar fence project in Portland turned into a huge mess.

I was setting the posts last spring, using a 2-inch auger on my rented skid steer. The ground was way wetter than I thought, and the fifth post hole just collapsed in on itself, taking about 80 pounds of concrete mix with it. I had to stop everything, dig it all out by hand, and let the area dry for two full days before starting over. Has anyone else had a soil issue completely wreck their schedule like that?

Yeah, wet soil is a nightmare. It turns a simple job into a total rescue mission. You just have to wait it out, which is the most annoying part.

Man, does wet soil just ruin everything? I had a similar thing happen trying to put in a garden bed. That soupy mud makes it impossible. You think you're making progress and then the whole thing just falls apart. It's the worst feeling, watching all your work and material just vanish into the ground. Total schedule killer for sure.

Mother Nature just billed you for an 80-pound concrete sacrifice, lmao.
