PSA: my scale was off by 14 grams and that explained my sad sandwich loaves
I keep a cheap digital scale on the counter and never checked it, then last week I weighed a 500 gram bag of flour on a scale at my sister's place in Dayton and mine read 514. Turns out my loaves were running dry because I was shorting the water by the same amount every bake, and two rounds of fixing the dough got me back to a soft crumb. How often do you all check your scales against a known weight?
