Shoutout to the baker who finally explained why my sourdough starter was so sluggish
I kept it in a cold spot in my kitchen, and moving it to a warmer cabinet doubled its activity in two days. Anyone else have a simple fix that made a huge difference?

Temperature is such a big deal for those little yeast guys. My first attempt at making kombucha stalled out completely until I wrapped the jar in a towel like a weird baby. Turns out my apartment was just too drafty for it to get going.

Honestly, I used to think kombucha was just about the recipe. But seeing how much a simple towel fix matters, it really shows how small changes can make or break the whole thing. Guess I need to pay more attention to my own setup now.

My first starter was so lazy I almost named it after my old roommate. I was feeding it fancy flour and everything, but it lived right under the AC vent. Moving it to on top of the fridge was like giving it a double espresso.
