Why does nobody talk about how oven racks warp over time
Last month I pulled out a sheet tray and noticed my cake layers were baking lopsided. Turns out the rack itself had a slight bend after 8 years of heavy use. Has anyone else fixed this with a cheap replacement or do you just deal with it?

A slightly warped rack is worth maybe 12 bucks and five minutes of your life to fix, so why is this a whole discussion?

And honestly that sums up like half of all home maintenance problems. It's always either "five minutes and pocket change" or "congratulations, you're now a rack restoration artist.

Mine took 10 years to warp, and I only noticed when my cookies came out looking like a topographical map of the Rockies. I ended up buying a cheap replacement rack from a hardware store for like 12 bucks. Way easier than trying to bend the old one back with a hammer (which I tried, not my finest moment).

Ray, that hammer attempt made me laugh because I did the exact same thing with a pizza stone that cracked on me. I ended up going to a restaurant supply store and grabbed a heavy-duty rack for like 15 bucks, it's been solid for two years now. The old warped rack is still sitting in my garage as a "maybe I'll fix it someday" project, but honestly, that day hasn't come. Sometimes it's just better to throw down the twelve or fifteen bucks and move on with your baking.
