Debate: Should you weigh ingredients by grams or trust the cup measurement?

I spent 3 hours last Sunday trying to figure out why my cookies came out like flat pancakes. Turned out I was packing flour into my measuring cup like a maniac. Switched to a kitchen scale and it took me 20 tries over 2 weeks to get the hang of converting recipes. Some folks swear by cups for speed... others say grams never lie. What side are you on? And how long did it take you to switch if you did?

Grandmas pass down old wives tales all the time, most of that stuff is just folklore that's been debunked. I gotta disagree with @anna717 on this one, facts are facts no matter who tells you something.
