I stopped keeping recipe swaps quiet after a fright

A pal's mild allergy from my secret nut change means I note all tweaks now.

Once accidentally swapped gravel for sand, learned my lesson fast.

Yikes, keeping recipe swaps a secret is like playing dietary roulette. You never know when a simple change could trigger an allergy or just taste awful. Why risk it when you can just tell people what you're doing?

Man, hiding ingredient swaps is just asking for trouble. I once used coconut oil instead of butter for a friend who never mentioned their dairy issue, and it did not go over well. Now I always ask about dietary limits before I cook anything.

Yeah, that "playing dietary roulette" line really sums it up. I had a similar wake-up call when I used a different broth and didn't think to tell a guest who avoids MSG. Seeing someone feel unwell because of a hidden ingredient is a horrible feeling. It turned me into a total over-sharer about every single change I make now.
