My Great Thanksgiving Bake Week turned into a flour nightmare
Last Tuesday I had everything planned out, three pies and two loaves of bread for the big dinner. But my kitchen scale died mid-measure and I guessed the flour for the first loaf, total mistake. It came out like a brick and then the pumpkin pie filling curdled because I rushed the cream cheese to room temp. By Friday I had thrown out more than I served, and my aunt even asked if I'd switched to store bought. Anyone else had a holiday bake week spiral after one little thing went wrong?
One dead scale and the whole week is toast. Been there. Last year my oven ran cold and I didn't notice till the rolls came out pale and doughy in the middle. Then I tried to "fix" them under the broiler and set off the smoke alarm. Kids thought it was a fire drill. Aunt asking about store bought is rough though, that one stings.
