My second ever bake sale cleared $212 and I still can't decide if that's a win or luck
I did a small bake sale at my church in Grand Rapids last month and walked out with $212 after costs, which is way more than the $60 I was expecting. My sister says it was just the holiday crowd and I should not count on it, but my neighbor keeps saying any profit above zero means the recipes work and I should double the batch next time. I sold 14 loaves of banana bread and every single cookie, which makes me think the crowd was the reason and not my baking. So is $212 a real number to build on or did I just get lucky with the timing? I want to hear from people who have done repeat sales, how do you know when the number means something?
Selling out of cookies doesn't prove the recipes work since a small batch goes fast no matter what, but $212 after costs is still a real number to learn from. Track what you sold and how many people showed up, then run it again on a normal weekend to see if the crowd was the reason.
