Spent 6 hours trying to fix a sunken cake before realizing my oven rack was tilted
I baked a vanilla cake for my nephew's birthday party in Fresno on Saturday and it came out with a giant dip in the middle, so I tried everything from new baking powder to a different pan over the course of 6 hours. Turns out my oven rack had been sitting crooked for who knows how long, and once I leveled it the next cake rose perfectly. Has anyone else chased a baking problem that turned out to be something dumb with their equipment instead of the recipe?
