A client in Nashville fixed my burnout with one weird sentence
I was complaining about a nightmare client to a guy at a coffee shop in Nashville last month, and he just said 'your stress is a sign you care too much about things that don't care back.' It hit me that I treat every $50 project like it's a $5k one, and that's why I'm fried. Has anyone else had a stranger say something that snapped them out of their own head like that?

See, I kind of disagree with this take. Not everything a stranger says is profound just because it caught you off guard. That "care too much" line sounds like something you'd see printed on a cheesy motivational poster in a dentist's waiting room. I've had random people say stuff to me that sounded deep in the moment, but when I really thought about it later, it was just common sense dressed up fancy. Sometimes we give too much credit to these "universe sent them" moments when really it was just a tired guy at a coffee shop saying whatever popped into his head.

Wait, a stranger in a coffee shop just said that to you out of nowhere? That's wild, almost feels like the universe sent him.

Right? That's exactly what I thought when I read that. Something similar happened to me last year at a bus stop, this older guy just walked up and said "that color really brings out your eyes" and then walked off. Never even got his name but it felt too random to be a coincidence. Still think about it sometimes when I'm having a rough day.
