After crashing at a coffee shop in Portland last Thursday, I finally got why rest matters
I was grinding away on a big editing project for a client in Seattle, sipping my third cold brew at this place called Common Grounds near my apartment. Around 5 PM my eyes started twitching and I couldn't focus on the timeline at all. I just stared at the screen for like 20 minutes doing nothing productive. So I packed up and walked down to the waterfront for about 45 minutes, just watching the river and people. I got back home and finished the whole edit in half the time I thought it would take. It really hit me that forcing myself to push through when I'm fried just makes everything worse. Has anyone else had a random break like that totally turn their work day around?

Those three cold brews probably had more to do with it than the break. I mean 5 PM after that much caffeine your nervous system was probably just giving out regardless. I get the whole "rest is important" thing but it sounds like you just dehydrated yourself with coffee and your body forced you to stop. A 45 minute walk is nice and all but maybe just drink water next time and see if you even need the break.

Caffeine is just our society's way of running on empty then crashing hard @sanchez.julia.
