Chat with a retired barber got me rethinking my pace
Tbh, I was grabbing coffee last Tuesday and ended up talking to this older guy, 71, who cut hair for like 45 years in Philly. He said he never took more than 3 clients an hour, even when shops begged him to speed up, because he wanted to leave work with his head clear. That hit different for me because I've been stacking 5 or 6 editing gigs a day to hit a savings goal, and I'm toasted by 3pm. He told me, 'The money catches up if you stay sharp, but burnout will eat your craft first.' I've since trimmed my daily load to 4 projects max, and honestly my turnaround quality feels better already. Has anyone else tried capping their hours even if it means less income short term?
