Chose between a full-time gym membership or a standing desk last winter - picked wrong
Back in January I was staring down a big stretch of slow work and had to decide between renewing my gym membership for $50 a month or getting one of those cheap standing desk converters for like $100. I went with the desk because I figured I could just exercise at home. Big mistake. After three months of hunching over that thing and skipping real movement, my back was shot and I had zero energy by 2pm. Meanwhile my buddy kept his gym pass and was crushing his deadlines with way less stress. I finally caved and joined his gym last month, and now I'm dragging myself there before noon even on slow days. Has anyone else made a bad call on where to put their money for health stuff?

Dude same here. I dropped $200 on a nice exercise bike during a sale thinking I'd ride it every morning before work. That thing collected dust for six months. Ended up just reselling it for barely half what I paid and signed up for a boxing gym instead. Having to actually show up somewhere and be around other people is the only thing that gets me moving consistently.

Honestly that's exactly what happened to my buddy Mark when he bought a Peloton knockoff. He swore he'd wake up at 5am to ride it but after two weeks it was just a really expensive clothes rack in his spare room. Now he pays for a cheap gym membership and actually goes because he feels guilty if someone sees him skipping out.

Oh man, @wells.evan I got a fancy yoga mat during a quarantine sale thinking I'd become some zen master, and now it's just a very expensive spot for my cat to nap.
