I actually stopped taking on new clients for 3 months and my income went up

Last January I got tired of the constant hustle culture advice about always marketing yourself, so I just stopped pitching anyone and focused completely on the two retainer clients I had. Instead of burning out doing a dozen small projects each month, I used that time to actually finish their work faster and upsell them on bigger packages. Has anyone else tried scaling back instead of scaling up and seen better results?

That's honestly refreshing to hear.

Read this article the other day that was talking about how more people are starting to question things they used to just accept without thinking. It's wild how much stuff we just go along with because it's "normal" lol. The article mentioned how breaking that cycle can feel weird at first but ends up being way more honest. Definitely got me rethinking a few things in my own life.

A buddy of mine runs a small landscaping business and he did basically the same thing last summer. He just stopped taking new lawn jobs and focused on his regulars who wanted all those add-ons like flower beds and tree trimming. Made more money in July than he did in the whole spring somehow.
