Swapped my all-nighter grind for a 9pm hard stop and wow

Honestly I used to think pushing through until 2am was how you got ahead as a freelancer. About 4 months ago I crashed hard after a string of 60 hour weeks. Now I shut my laptop at 9pm no matter what, even if I'm in the middle of something. I spend that extra hour just watching dumb videos or walking around my block. My output actually went up by like 20% and I'm not hating my life anymore. Has anyone else tried a strict cutoff time like that and seen their quality improve instead of drop?

60 hour weeks aren't sustainable not a badge of honor.

Yeah it's wild how much of a difference a hard stop makes. I started doing something similar about a year ago when I realized my late night work was just garbage. I'd stare at the screen for hours and end up deleting half of it the next morning. Now I shut things down at 10pm and just read or watch something dumb. At first I felt guilty like I was slacking off but honestly my focus during the day got way better. It took maybe two weeks to stop feeling restless but now I sleep way better and wake up actually ready to work instead of dragging.
