The $25 noise-canceling earbuds that saved my focus

I grabbed a pair of cheap earbuds from Target to block out my noisy neighbor's drilling, and it's been a game changer for getting into deep work without distractions. Now I can finish tasks in 2 hours that used to take me all afternoon. Anyone else find a small purchase that made a big difference in avoiding burnout?

That "finish tasks in 2 hours that used to take me all afternoon" part really hit home for me. I got a pair of cheap bluetooth earbuds too, not for noise canceling but just to drown out the traffic outside my window, and it cut my writing time in half cause I wasn't jumping at every car horn. Sometimes the simplest little fix like that is all you need to stop feeling drained by the end of the day.

@shanes66 that's a good point about cheap earbuds doing the job just as well. Makes me wonder though, what kind of traffic noise were you dealing with before? Is it like a busy street or highway right outside your window? I've got a similar problem in my apartment building, but it's more random banging from neighbors than constant car horns. Seems like different kinds of noise might need different fixes. Did you notice if blocking out the traffic helped your focus more during certain times of day, like morning versus late afternoon?

You ever have a friend who just won't shut up about their new gadget? My buddy Mike got some noise blocking headphones last month. He finally finished his novel after two years of trying.
