Took a full Tuesday off for the first time in 14 months and made $0, best decision all quarter
I've been grinding 60 hour weeks since January and finally blocked out a random Tuesday with zero client work. By Wednesday I knocked out 3 projects in 5 hours that would've taken me 2 days when I was fried, has anyone else tracked their output before and after an actual day off?
How long did it take before the guilt wore off that Tuesday, or did it bug you the whole day? I ask because the hard part for me is not the day off, it is sitting there feeling like I should be working the entire time. If the guilt sticks around, you end up just as tired on Wednesday anyway.
Wait, you made zero dollars and it was your best call all quarter? That is messed up in the funniest way. We treat a normal day off like some huge risk, then the second we take one our brain finally works again. Three projects in five hours is wild, but it also makes sense when you are not running on fumes. I bet most of us are just too stubborn to test it because sitting still feels lazy. The grind can trick you into thinking more hours equals more done, when really it just equals more tired.
