Unpopular opinion: that guy at the UPS store saying 'just say no to rush jobs' bugged me for a week
I was shipping a package last Tuesday and the guy behind the counter saw my label said rush and asked if I was a freelancer. When I said yes he told me he quit design after 6 years because he said yes to every rush job that came in and ended up in the ER with chest pains at 34. He said the last straw was a client who wanted a full logo set done over a holiday weekend for $200. I laughed at first but then I did the math on my own last 4 rushes and 3 of them were priced under $150. I keep thinking about how he said the money never felt worth it after the job was done. Now I'm second guessing every 'can you turn this around by Friday' email I open. Anyone else set a hard no on rush work, and did it actually cost you clients or did they just wait?
