Vent: I thought meditation was total BS until I hit a wall last week

I had a huge plumbing job go sideways on Tuesday, three toilets backing up into a basement, and I was shaking with stress by noon. A buddy dragged me to a 10 minute breathing exercise on YouTube, and I swear my heart rate dropped enough to actually think straight again. Anyone else have a stress hack they were dead wrong about at first?

Oh man, totally. For me it was those stupid breathing apps.

Those apps just made me feel more anxious about breathing wrong.

Wait, did you actually feel that too @fionat55? I thought I was the only one who got that weird pressure from those apps. Like idk, I'd be sitting there trying to follow the little circle breathing guide and suddenly I'm hyperaware of every breath I'm taking. It made me feel like I was doing it wrong even though I've been breathing fine my whole life. Maybe it's just me but they kinda made my anxiety worse instead of better.
