Why does nobody talk about taking a real lunch break when you work from home

I was at my desk in my apartment in Austin last Thursday, and I realized I hadn't moved for 6 hours straight. My back hurt, my eyes were burning, and I'd eaten a granola bar while typing. So I forced myself to walk 10 minutes to a park nearby and just sat on a bench with a sandwich. By the time I got back, I actually finished my project in 2 hours instead of the 4 I expected. Has anyone else found that stepping away completely changes how fast you work?

A granola bar while typing? That's insane, you are not a machine!

That sounds frustrating. Stuff like that is just asking for crumbs everywhere, you have my sympathy.

3 hours of lost productivity for a sandwich? I eat at my desk all the time and still hit my deadlines just fine. @jennybailey I think people overthink this stuff - standing desks and walking meetings are a trend that'll pass. If you need a break take one, but acting like eating without crumbs is some kind of human achievement feels dramatic.
