Chose between a payment reminder app vs chasing people manually, went with the app after losing $600 in forgotten invoices last spring

I picked the $15/month app over my messy email system and now at least I get paid on time for once, has anyone else tried automating this or is it just me?

Six hundred bucks over a few months? That's not exactly a crisis, more like a minor annoyance. I've forgotten about a coffee I owed a buddy and he never brought it up again, and the world kept spinning. Seems like a lot of setup and monthly fees for something you could just fix by writing a reminder on a sticky note or setting a calendar alert on your phone for free. People act like missing a payment is the end of the world, but in the grand scheme of things, it's just money you'll probably get eventually if you follow up.

Six hundred bucks isn't minor annoyance material for most people, @hunt.hayden, and saying it's like forgetting a coffee is a wild comparison. Coffee costs like five bucks, not a week of groceries or a car payment. I tried the sticky note method too and it fell apart fast once I had more than a handful of clients with different due dates. The app sends automatic reminders so I dont have to keep track in my head or hunt through my inbox for who owes what. Youre right that you'll probably get the money eventually, but eventually can mean months of waiting when you could be paid in days. A little setup cost saves a lot of headache down the line.

@hunt.hayden you're telling me you'd rather chase people down over a coffee than get paid for actual work you did? That $600 was real money I had to eat, not some minor annoyance. A sticky note or calendar alert works great until you've got twenty clients with different payment schedules and your inbox looks like a war zone. How many invoices have you let slide before you finally got around to following up on them?
