DAE remember when you could just hand someone a paper bill and they paid on the spot?
I spent almost 4 months chasing a $650 invoice from a contractor in Fresno, and the whole mess came down to one missing purchase order number. Back in the day I would have just walked into his office with a copy of the bill and we would have sorted it out in ten minutes. Now it lives in some portal that kicks it back if a single field is off, and nobody answers a phone anymore. I resent the email three separate times with a highlighted PO number and finally got someone on the line who fixed it in two minutes. The actual problem was tiny, but the back and forth ate a whole season of my patience. Does anyone else feel like billing used to be simpler, or am I just getting old?
