Finally got a check from a client who ghosted me for 8 months. I sent one last invoice to his home address. | Billing Issues - Freelance Forum - The Community for Independent Professionals
My buddy had a client who vanished for almost a year. He finally mailed a final bill to the guy's mom's house, where he knew the client was crashing. Got a check two weeks later with a note that just said "sorry." The whole thing was so weird.
Honestly @kellyt26, is that even weird? People fall off the map all the time. Life happens, you know? Maybe the guy lost his job, got depressed, or just couldn't deal. Sending a check with an apology is actually pretty decent compared to some clients who just ghost you forever. At least he paid up.
Read an article once about how common this is. Said a lot of people feel too ashamed to even send the check. So yeah, @skyler_patel is right, paying up is a big deal. The article called it "financial ghosting" and it messes with small businesses hard.
