Had to choose between chasing a $600 invoice or writing it off last month

I had a client in Denver who owed me $600 for a webdev project. They went silent for 45 days after I sent the final files. I got to the point where I had to decide: spend 10 hours sending reminders and maybe fighting small claims court, or just let it go and focus on new work. I picked writing it off and it stung but freed up my time to land a $1200 gig the next week. Has anyone else walked away from owed money and found it worked out better?

100% been there. I had a $500 client ghost me and I spent like two weeks stressing about it before I just let it go. Next month I had three new clients that paid way more. Sometimes you gotta just write it off and move on.

My friend lost a $1,200 contract and same thing happened to her, @abby_fisher.

Totally agree with you both. I had a graphic design client that dropped me after I'd already sunk about 30 hours into their branding project for $800. Hated it at the time, but @lee.cora's friend probably found the same thing I did: that space opened up for better paying work. I ended up landing a $3,000 retainer the very next week from a referral who saw my portfolio.
