The polite reminder email I mocked for 2 years finally saved my invoice
I used to think sending a friendly nudge before the due date was annoying, like I was begging for money instead of just doing my job. Then a regular in Denver owed me $800 and let it slide 11 days, and one polite note about the upcoming date got it paid in 3 hours. Has anyone else found that a simple heads-up works way better than waiting to chase after the deadline?

That "begging for money" line hit home. My buddy runs a small tree service and used to wait until invoices were 30 days late to say anything. Same thing happened with a big commercial job, $1,200 owed, zero response for two weeks.
He switched it up and sent a casual text three days before the due date. Just a "Hey, just checking the schedule, invoice lands Thursday, let me know if you need anything." Client paid that afternoon. He said it felt less like him chasing and more like a heads-up. Now he does it for every single job.
