Vent: Took me 4 days to realize a dumb billing error on my end
I spent hours chasing a client who was 2 weeks late on a $800 invoice, only to find out I'd typed their email address wrong in the billing system so my reminders were going to spam the whole time. Has anyone else wasted forever on a simple mistake that was totally your own fault?

@ray562 is right, it's like when you search for your keys for ten minutes while holding them.

Four days doesn't really sound like "wasting forever" to me. You caught it, fixed it, sent the real invoice, and moved on. That's a Tuesday for most freelancers. I've had clients ghost me for months and then pop up with a check like nothing happened. Compared to that, a typo in an email field is small stuff. Maybe set up an automatic check next time and call it a win.

Wait, hold on, @ray562 actually had clients ghost them for months and then just send a check out of nowhere? That's wild to me. I mean I've had people take forever to pay before but disappearing for months and then showing up like it's nothing? That's a whole other level of disrespect. I would be so ticked off if someone did that to me, I'd probably forget I even did the work for them by that point. But you're right about the typo thing being small potatoes compared to that. Four days is nothing, especially if you caught it yourself. That kind of ghosting story just blows my mind though, I don't think I could ever work with someone again after that.
