Why I won't send a bill the same day I finish a job (and the painter in Tampa who agreed)
Everyone on here says to bill right away or you lose your nerve, but I think that advice is wrong. Back in March I finished a $1,400 bathroom tile job on a Friday and sent the bill that same afternoon, and the homeowner hit me with a list of six tiny complaints she never said a word about while I was standing there. She sat on that paper for a week and built up a whole case in her head. A painter in Tampa told me he waits two days, then calls the person to walk through the work before the number ever shows up, and his late payments dropped to almost nothing. Does anyone else bill after a check-in call instead of firing off the bill the second you pack up?

Waiting just gives them time to invent problems that never existed, so idk, I'd rather bill fast and deal with it.
